# Document editing

> Work with submission documents, comments, saved changes, exports, and AI-assisted edits.

The document workspace helps your team review, edit, and finalise submission documents inside a project.

## Open a document

Open a project, choose a file, and preview or edit it depending on the file type. Supported Office documents can be edited in the workspace. Other files may open as previews or downloads.

## Saved changes and recovery

Tendor saves supported document changes and keeps storage history for recovery and audit. Use the document workspace to keep reviewed drafts separate from final submission files.

Use saved documents to:

* Review the latest working copy
* Keep AI-created edits separate from the reviewed final version
* Export the file your team intends to submit
* Ask your team owner or Tendor support for help if an earlier saved copy needs to be restored

## Comments and review

Use comments to coordinate review with teammates. Before submitting, confirm:

* Mandatory requirements are addressed
* Attachments are included
* Pricing and commercial details are approved
* Declarations are complete
* Source references and claims are accurate
* Final exports open correctly

## Source-backed comments

Some AI-assisted documents include comments that link back to the source PDF used for a claim or answer. Open the comment and choose **Open source PDF** to check the cited page without leaving the document review flow.

This is useful when you need to:

* Verify a compliance answer against the buyer's instructions
* Check that a case study, certificate, policy, or CV is the right evidence
* Confirm that a rewritten section still matches the original source
* Resolve reviewer questions about where a statement came from

If a source opens with a warning, review the current file carefully. The source may have changed since the document was first drafted.

## AI document edits

Ask AI can help draft, rewrite, summarise, or check document content. Larger edits may run in the background and return a new file or version for review.

Good document-editing prompts name the file, section, and desired output.

```text theme={null}
Rewrite section 4.1 in the draft response using a clearer executive tone.
Keep the meaning the same and flag any claims that need evidence.
```

```text theme={null}
Compare the draft response against the compliance schedule.
List any unanswered requirements and the section where each should be fixed.
```

<Warning>
  Do not submit AI-edited documents without human review. Check meaning, evidence, formatting, pricing, declarations, and buyer-specific instructions.
